ANXIETY

Anxiety has a way of running your life.  You’re spending so much time managing it - the ruminating thoughts, the physical manifestations, the opting-out of life events - that it can feel like your whole identity.  It’s exhausting worrying about hypothetical worst case scenarios, or replaying a benign interaction over and over again until you start to cringe.  How are you supposed to be comfortable in your skin if this is what’s going on in your brain?  Your body’s signals make it impossible to ignore too - the stomach aches, the tight chest, the difficulty sleeping.  How did it get to be this way?  What is it trying to tell you?  

 

Navigating this on your own just adds to the overwhelm.  What if you didn’t have to?  I know what anxiety feels like, and I know what it’s like to get to the other side.  Coming in for therapy will go a long way toward feeling better, and from there we can start to investigate what’s happening for you.  Together we will identify your triggers and the underlying beliefs that fuel your outsize response to them.  We will incorporate anxiety-management techniques and lifestyle tweaks so you feel like you're making sustainable change.  Building understanding of your psyche and growing your mindfulness skills allows for more choice in how you respond to the events in your life.  Over time you will feel more grounded, in control and present in your life.
