a bit about me
Growing up in California, Colorado and Tennessee concocted a Midwestern warmth with an open-mindedness and appreciation of our differences. These experiences gave me a curiosity for how humans develop in their environments and with their unique histories, leading me to pursue psychology.
However my path to psychology wasn’t always obvious. I began my studies in Political Science at Vanderbilt University before a seven year tenure in the corporate world. I am grateful for this detour, as it has added depth and perspective to my work with clients. In 2014 I began my counseling psychology degree at The Wright Institute in Berkeley, and completed my training in San Francisco. My training journey encompassed internships at family service agencies, community mental health clinics, elementary and high schools, and group therapy practices. I am a curious person and a life-long learner and regularly attend trainings to hone my craft.
In my free time, you can find me exploring the natural beauty of California or enjoying live music. I love the rich culture of Los Angeles and venture to find interesting new perspectives from the amazingly creative people in our city (if traffic allows, of course). Family life is also important to me - it’s been joyful and fascinating to watch my children develop into their own unique beings.
how I work
Therapy with me puts you at ease, leaving you with a sense of safety and companionship. I am warm and relatable, and my clients find me easy to talk to. Together we will slow things down to understand what’s really going on for you and examine it with curiosity and compassion. I listen deeply to understand all the layers of you - those we can see and those that are waiting to be discovered. My aim is to expand what you know about yourself so you can feel empowered to make informed decisions about your life. We explore your multitudes in a caring environment, so you can learn to care for each part of yourself too. I care deeply about my clients; working with me means I’m firmly in your corner. My hope for you is that you can move forward in your life with a greater sense of ease and meaning.
